Why would anybody bury a perfectly good cymbal in the dirt?
Drummers are always looking for ways to shape the sound a their cymbals. Some believe that burying a cymbal can give it the sound of one that has aged for years. Is it true?
Sabian is going to find out.
They have buried 100 custom-sized 21″ Vault Artisan cymbals in Canadian dirt where they will remain for 8 months until excavation on June 1, 2009. The cymbals will then be boxed in special cedar boxes and sold for $800.00 each. Proud owners will also receive:
- Invitation to visit the SABIAN factory in 2010 – meet the founders of SABIAN and tour the factory!
- Early access to new product and printed information from SABIAN
- Invitation to participate in a SABIAN focus group
- Access to an exclusive One of 100 forum which includes direct access to SABIAN product specialists
Sabian has announced that a portion of the proceeds will be donated to a charity to be named later.
If you are interested in buying one of these unique experiments, or just want to learn more about the burial, visit the Sabian website.
