Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, Theresa Dimond moved to Los Angeles to study percussion at the University of Southern California where she completed her bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees. She has been a member of the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra since its first season and has recently been appointed principal percussionist by Artistic Director, Kent Nagano.

She is the principal timpanist for the Pasadena Pops and California Philharmonic. As a freelance musician she has performed with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra; and many touring companies, including the American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Ballet and Kirov Ballet. Her recording credits include Edward Scissorhands, Far From Heaven, Rocky V, The Simpsons, Pochahontas, the 38th Annual Grammy Awards and recordings with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Theresa is a founding member of the Color Sound Percussion Trio, which performs in the LA School District under the auspices of the Music Center on Tour. She is the owner and editor of TouchDown Productions, a publishing enterprise that specializes in editing symphonic, ballet and opera editions for discerning percussionists. Dimond is currently on the faculties of USC, Cerritos College, Pomona College, UC-Irvine and Whittier College.
